Ha! I wasn't the only one with bible school issues!

Remember this?  The left-wing politicization of my son's "bible school"?  Well I guess I'm not the only one who had issues with it.  Now I knew that the curriculum they used was protestant in nature, because I've seen the same exact program advertised in front of local Presbyterian and Methodist churches.  But I felt like they did a pretty good job last year of "Catholicizing" it.  But, as you can see in my post and the one I linked to, all they did a good job of this year was "lefticizing" it.

I know the summer's almost over, but if any of you have children signed up for Pandamania bible school at your church, get your money back NOW!!!

  1. Unbelievable. I can't remember what program my parish used this year (my kids didn't go) but I'll have to check and forward this info to our priest if it's the same program.

  2. Wow! We used this program this summer, but I think it was done repsonsibly (we are a 100% orthodox parish). I will have to dig for more info, but my teen daughter didn't mention anything that was "off"... Still, thanks for the heads up!!!

Why can't we just have good ole straight up Catholic VBS??

  3. Leila, yes, I definitely think it hinges on who is putting on the program. Like I said, last year's was far more "Catholicized" and we had a different Religious Ed director! So I think that was the main difference. This year's was put on by un-nun, which I think was the key. It's pretty sad that the one put on by a nun is less Catholic than the one put on by laity. :(

  7. We did Pandamania this year, but without the controversial bits. Clare loved it! I agree that it makes a difference as to who runs the program.

  8. Ah, you guys need Totus Tuus! It's AMAZING! It's put on by seminarians and college students (from good Orthodox colleges) and is the absolute highlight of Mikey's summer. They LEARN the faith! The only downside...he knows more than I do now!

  11. You were never alone, Nicole!!! It sounded awful when you described it. Thanks for bringing it back to our attention!

I have some familiarity with Totus Tuus and it IS amazing!!!

  12. I've never even heard of this stuff. I did'nt sent M to VBS this year (because Nicole C was in town and we hung out with her instead!) But I'm not sure what our church does. I guess we'll find out next year, unless Nicole C decides to come back that week again!

  13. Last week my parish had Pandamania camp, and just yesterday I was driving around wondering what pandas had to do with God. I know God made pandas, and I like them and all, but it just seemed strange to me.

I noticed that another parish nearby had Totus Tuus, but I can't tell you more than that.
